About

I have been designing and restoring historic homes and interiors since 1985.  I have a love for both historic architecture and modern design.  I am greatly influenced by the Bauhaus School of Architecture and like to design everything I can and make it too.

I studied Architecture at Texas A & M University and received my degree in Environmental Design under both artists and architects.  I enjoyed learning how to design for how people actually live and to explore different art media.

During the time I lived in Texas, I had internships with Three Architecture and Kent Walker Interiors in Dallas, Texas.  After I graduated from college I worked with Joiner Rowland & Serio in an advertising firm in Dallas, TX and learned about print media.

When my first daughter was born,  I began working part-time from my home and helped clients with their homes - from picking out Persian rugs and designing draperies to floor plans and additions.  While my four children were at home, I was able to explore ceramic, fiber and glass art in between diaper changing and duties as I helped care for them.

We later moved to Moscow, Idaho.   At the University of Idaho, I learned how to make pottery on a wheel and make my own glazes under artist Glenn Grishkoff.  I helped to form the Palouse Studio Potter's Guild and made bowls to donate monies to charities with the Empty Bowls project.

I learned about the fiber arts from artist Sarah Swett and the Hand Spinners.   They taught me how to spin, dye and weave fiber from the very beginnings of shearing a sheep, then how to spin and weave the yarn into a work of art. They are an amazing group of women and I miss those Tuesday nights of spinning, visiting, and learning.

In this artistic town, I began my exploration into fused glass after designing a stained glass piece under the tutelage of Mike McCoy.  In my role as an Idaho Commission on the Arts Teaching artist, I have taken what I have learned and taught it to school children in many Idaho schools.

While we lived in Moscow, ID I got my Masters in Architecture at the University of Idaho with a focus on Sustainable Design, Daylighting and Water Conservation.  Additionally I took many Interior Design classes to broaden my expertise.

I have taught Architecture classes and Interior Design classes at both the University of Idaho and Washington State University in both Adjunct Professor and a Full Time Professor positions.  I enjoy teaching, learning, and making things.

Most recently I have worked at ALC Architecture and Resin architecture designing commercial buildings and spaces.

My hobbies include Paddleboarding, Camping, Hiking, Kayaking, Art, teaching Yoga & Zumba classes, and visiting my children.
